I’m sure there’s an actual explanation as to why it works this way somewhere but everytime Skyrim tells me “when you read a spell tome to learn a spell it is destroyed in the process” I like to imagine that your character handles the book so roughly it obliterates the whole fucking thing
You read a page and turn it so violently it rips it from the spine and you just let go of it in the wind
Your nails dig into the cover and just rip out chunks every time you adjust it in your hands
You choose to read it in the worst possible weather so it gets absolutely water-logged or ripped apart by the wind
The College of Winterhold has begged you to stop doing this as Skyrim residents are finding spell pages all over the land and are reading the pages out loud to each other and now there are eldritch beings destroying villages. The bodies from the cemeteries won’t stop following people and defending them from every small thing. Children have been turned into chickens. Cows are invisible. There are permanent glowing mage lights in the corners of peoples homes and they can’t sleep becuz it’s so bright. Lightning runes are blocking doorways. The local giant is floating. Please stop destroying the tomes. Please just read them like a normal person.
